The Syllabus
There’s never been a better time to study web design, with more and more companies, individuals and organisations having their own website, or wanting to maximise their presence on the internet following the growth of Web 2.0.
SkillsTrain’s comprehensive CIW Web Manager course will take you through every step necessary to ensure you’re fully competent in both creating and maintaining a website, however large or small.
And at every step of the way, your personal tutor will guide you through the steps necessary to achieve the regular assignments and progress onto the next stage.
The CIW course itself is divided into four sections:-
The Foundations of Web Management
A comprehensive overview of the Internet, encompassing e-mail, web browsing, web search engines, internet security, IT project management and databases.
Taking you step by step through web languages and coding, hyperlinks and imaging techniques, and finally networking and internetworking, hardware operation and maintenance and TCP/IP Suite and Internet Addressing.
Web Languages
The next part of the course is all about JavaScript to give you a full understanding of the language and how to use it to the full in website design and management.
Having achieved competency in JavaScript, students are introduced to Perl programming language to learn how to use data-types, access and manipulate files and develop a sound understanding of database connectivity and debugging techniques
Server Administration
This is where things get really interesting, finding out about the various platforms for web-hosting, how to choose appropriate servers so that you’ll end up being able to advise on TCP/IP services for those wanting an e-commerce presence.
Design Methodology and Technology
At last, you’re ready to learn the techniques and technology behind web design and put into practice all you’ve learnt. This part of the course encompasses competency in all the key web design programmes, plug-ins, Flash, web languages, database and image management. In short, you’ll be designing your own singing and dancing websites!
